Roles & Identity

We already live in roles — at work, at home, with the people who matter to us. Every grouping of your time and tasks is a role. This is where you name the ones that are yours.

The whole assignment: name your roles. That's it. When life shows up as one giant pile, your brain freezes — sorted into a handful of named roles, it becomes something you can actually hold. You can name roles you hold today or ones you're growing into — these become the backbone of your planning, from this week to this year to the bigger picture.

How to use this tool

  1. Start with Self — put your own words to Mind, Body, Heart, and Soul.
  2. Name your roles — tap a category below or add your own. 5–8 total, including Self, is the sweet spot.
  3. Go deeper if you want — each role has space to define what it is and why it matters to you.

Self — the foundation

Self counts as one role — the one every other role stands on. What does each of these mean to you?

One area can hold more than one role — Career / Work might really be Manager + Mentor + Firefighter. If two roles pull on you differently, name them separately.

What happens with this: these roles become the categories your plans are built around — the lens for weekly planning, yearly direction, and the goals that matter. You've done the important part: the scattered pile now has names.
