Needs Assessment: Qualifications & Competencies

Zoom in. What does this customer actually need?

1One path per tab. Take one niche off your A-to-Z list and go deep. This is depth, not breadth.
2Three to five real postings, open on screen. Fill this from what's in front of you — not from memory of what these jobs usually want.
3Their words, not yours. The phrasing column is what makes tailoring almost automatic later.
What this tool is

The macro view told you whether demand exists. This one tells you what the demand actually is. For one path at a time, you read real postings and reverse-engineer the spec: the qualifications that gate you in or out, and the competencies that decide whether you'd succeed once you're in. This is the customer's requirements document — written in their words, not your guesses.

Pull from: A-to-Z Target List Targeted Employer List Market Analysis Snapshot 3–5 real job postings
You're done when

Your primary path has 3–5 real postings logged, qualifications separated into required vs. preferred, at least five competencies typed and prioritized, and an honest answer to whether the hypothesis still holds. Every line traceable to something you actually read. If you only finish one path, make it the one you're actually pursuing this month.

Requirements are a customer's spec sheet. Read them like an engineer, not a defendant.

Work one path at a time, with real postings open beside you. What you build here becomes the left-hand column of everything downstream — your fit evaluation, your tailoring, your interview prep — so the priorities and the exact phrasing are worth getting right. Revisit each path as new postings come in; the pattern sharpens with every one. Your entries save automatically on this device.
